Middle School Coach

John Bickley

Coach Bickley began his rowing career at Leon High School in 1992 until 1994, rowing alongside Coach Newman and Coach Gowen in the Men’s Varsity 8. In college, he rowed for the Florida State Rowing Club from 1995-1996. He received his BA in English Literature from FSU (1999), his MA in English Literature from UNC-Chapel Hill (2001), and is currently finishing his PhD in Humanities at FSU.

John Bickley has coached in the Tallahassee area for six years. He began his coaching career as the men's novice coach for Tallahassee Area Crew from 2002 to 2004, after which he became the men's varsity coach from 2004 to 2007 and head coach from 2006 to 2008. During Capital City Rowing's first season, Coach Bickley coached the men’s junior varsity boats during the Spring of 2008.
