Jon Michael Francis
Women’s Head Coach & Program Director
JonMichael began rowing in 2008 for Tallahassee Area Crew, which quickly merged to become Capital City Rowing. As a rower, he finished 2nd place in the Varsity 8+ his senior year at the Florida State Championships. He then went on to compete at nationals in the Varsity 4+ finishing 8th overall. After rowing throughout high school, JonMichael attended Marietta College where he won the Freshman Heavyweight 8+ at the Aberdeen Dad Vail Regatta. Now residing back in Tallahassee, he will be graduating from Florida A&M University this fall. He began his coaching career working with the women's novice team in 2015. He eventually became the Women's Varsity coach in spring of 2016 and named Program Director Fall of 2018. JonMichael is very excited to have the opportunity to give back to the program where he got started and share his enthusiasm for the sport.
Head Middle School Coach
Taylor Jones began rowing her senior year of high school for Capital City Rowing in 2009. Making an appearance in our Varsity 8+ as a novice, she helped her boat to a grand final appearance at FSRA State Championships. While at Florida State University, Taylor began coaching and quickly enjoyed sharing her love for the sport and fitness in general with the team. Being named Head Middle School coach since 2016, she has been instrumental in the success of our middle and high school programs. She graduated from FSU in fall of 2017 with a degree in Food and Nutrition. Taylor is excited to instill a passion and respect for the sport of rowing in the next generation that has drawn her in since the first day she touched an oar.
Men’s Head Coach
Josh began rowing in 2005 at Boone High School in Orlando, FL. Following a successful high school rowing career highlighted by a State Championship and 3rd place finish at the Stotesbury Cup regatta in the Men's Lightweight 4+, Josh attended Florida State University where he began coaching with CCR in 2010. From 2010 to 2013, he coached the freshman men's, women's and middle school teams. Upon graduating, Josh was an insurance adjuster before he began coaching part-time with Nashville Rowing Club and would soon after accept a full-time position as the Assistant Junior Men's Coach, Head Master's Coach, Community Outreach Director and Equipment Manager with the rowing club. Josh moved back to Tallahassee in the Fall of 2018 to become the Men’s Head Coach as well as the Head Coach with FSU Rowing. He is looking forward to being back in his home state of Florida and with CCR where he began his coaching career.
Assistant Women’s Coach
Karina Baldwin started her rowing career at Orlando Area Rowing Society in 2009. As a rower turned coxswain, she played a pivotal role in her program making a nationals appearance in the Women's Varsity 8+. Having realized her love for the sport, Karina was awarded a scholarship at the University of Louisville to cox for the Cardinals. After graduating in December 2016 with a Psychology degree, she took a gap year in California. Wanting to further her studies, Karina began her coursework at Florida State University. Studying Sports Psychology, she will be graduating with her masters in Spring of 2019. She began coaching with CCR in January 2018 and has enjoyed being able to incorporate her diverse knowledge of the sport to help further build the program.
